mLight's National Sales Manager shares his take on coming industry trends for 2017/2018.
Our National Sales Manager, Ben Woods, has spent years on the front line of commercial lighting. He’s ridden the highs and lows that is the Australian building industry and now, he supports his own team of Product Consultants to do the same.
Each year, Ben receives BCI Australia’s Construction Outlook Report for the coming twelve months, adding their predictions to his repertoire so he can continue to lead the mLight sales team to greater heights.
This year’s report, Ben says, has seen him refining his approach in numerous ways.
“Stemming from an underlying demand for office accommodation, the commercial construction sector for the 2017/18 financial year is clearly trending upwards – especially in Melbourne and Sydney.”
He adds that NSW and the ACT are tipped to grow by over 34% during this financial period. Meanwhile, on the surface it seems that Victoria is forecast to decline by 30%.
“It is important to note that this overall figure is still 53% greater than the 2015/16 level of commercial construction stats.”
Overall, residential projects are the dominant category with 50% of all total building construction stats made up of this sector. They are, however, forecast to decline this financial year by 12.3%, with a further 6.6% drop prediction in 2017/18.
Ben goes on to say:
“In 2016/17, the value of total construction stats in Victoria is expected to finish on an increase of as much as 28.6%, largely thanks to strong performances in the Commercial and Retail categories. Nevertheless, BCI forecast a correction in 2017/18, with the total to decline by almost 17%.”
It’s with knowledge like this that Ben and the mLight team have continued to grow to a position of leadership in the industry. So for an expert opinion on lighting your project with a long-term, elegant solution, get in touch with our team today.
