They say children are our future, so it makes sense that the new senior centre at St Monica’s Primary School has some stunningly futuristic architecture. The clients, the architects at Baldasso Cortese and engineers at Waterman Australia, created an incredible space on campus, unifying several classrooms with a central presentation space. The centrepiece of the design is the gorgeous egg-shape cut outs placed throughout the ceiling. Such an awe-inspiring space would require an equally impressive lighting solution, and once again our Swerve LED, with a little help from the Kleo, was up to the task. Thanks to the Swerve’s ability to customised to any shape, we could realise the clients’ desire to match the ceiling cut outs with a suspended luminaire. The resulting halo highlights the primary, semi-circle bench and sitting area in the back half of the room. As a final touch, trios of LED downlights spread throughout the ceiling bathe the rest of the central zone in a warm glow. Our Kleo LEDs line the ceilings of the surrounding classrooms, creating the kind of bright yet gentle light perfect for a learning environment. We hope our work inspires the creative minds of the students as our clients’ designs inspired us.
